Barre Classes in Dorset
Our barre classes are designed to tone, stretch and strengthen for a complete body workout.
What is Barre?
'Barre' as a concept was founded by ballerina Lotte Berk in 1959. After injuring her back she had the idea of combining her ballet barre and rehabilitation exercises to form an exercise routine.
Barre was taken to the US by one of Berk’s students and
from the 2010’s Barre gained popularity amongst the fitness industry and is often taught in gyms.
At The Ballet and Pilates Studio the Barre class draws upon the historical
background and incoporates the fundamentals of Classical ballet and combines it with Pilates techniques to ensure a safe and
controlled workout.
